Aperitifs at the

Case study conducted by Mani Tese

Cashew nuts are booming in Europe: we find them everywhere, from aperitif bowls to sushi, in bars and in some processed products such as pesto. Italy ranks fourth among consumers, but the health benefits are not worth the negative environmental impacts of cashew tree farming in producing countries. Guinea-Bissau emerges as a particularly interesting case study for the analysis of the cashew production chain and its environmental consequences. Therefore, Mani Tese and lavialibera, have conducted a field research in Guinea-Bissau, with the aim of gaining a comprehensive understanding of the supply chain, as well as its environmental and social impacts.
